The homes here are big cubes. A majority of them are tan and very plain, but it makes the ones with character stand out that much more. These pictures aren't the greatest, because most were taken from the backseat of the car. :) I hope to get more as we begin to explore ourselves. The houses are really cool to look at because they're all different and their owners take pride in different styles and different aspects of them. Some have elabroate landscaping, some have absolutely none. Some are very private with tall gates and metal shades that come down to cover the windows like a fort, and others have the front door almost on the edge of a main road. There is a lot of money in this country and its interesting to watch how people spend it.
The Aquarium
We went to the Aquarium today. They had some neat stuff to see, but overall we weren't too impressed. The Aquarium portion was really small, even though from the outside it looks big! There was an imax that we didn't go to, but it looked like it might be good, so I can't speak for that. The exhibits they did have though were good. Plus, it opens right to the boardwalk, so we were able to walk there for a little bit. It was actually a little bit chilly here today. Nothing like the snow I hear our friends and relatives are getting, obviously. But it feels in the 60's if the wind is on you. I doubt its below 70 though. It was kind of a hazy and dusty sky today and it reminds me of Lubbock :) I'll have to try to get another skyline image when its clearer out than today.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend! Ours is over now. The weekend in the Middle east is Friday & Saturday.

We're here!
The time difference is still kicking our butts, but we got out of the hotel yesterday and were able to explore a little. A colleague of Jason's drove us around to see the city and where we'll be living. I was trying to take pictures out of the car window, but I'm sure you know how that goes... most are blurry. When we get a little more settled in and begin exploring ourselves (and driving ourselves), I'll be able to do more picture taking. Its impolite to take people's pictures here and it draws attention to you when you walk around with a camera stuck to your face, so I'll have to be sly about it.
We're in the hotel for another week. The food in the hotel so far is really good. There are several restaurants including, Italian, Lebanese, and Japanese, but we've only been to the Japanese restaurant so far. The sushi was great and we were really impressed. I think we made it out of there without doing anything socially uncacceptable, at least I think so :) Did you know that it's improper to use your left hand when eating? I'll let you research to discover why, if you're interested.
Anyways, more pictures to come.

All Things Wedding!

Our two month anniversary was two days ago :)
We got our wedding pictures back this week! Just in time too! There are a ton, but here are just a few! We had originally planned for the wedding to be in May, but when we found out about our relocation overseas, we had to move the wedding to November. I was worried about all the trees being bare and it not looking good in pictures, but everything turned out beautiful. It was PERFECT.
As far as the move goes, we're officially moved out of our apartment here. We head up to North Carolina tomorrow to further prep for the trip overseas. Our flight departs on the 30th of this month. I'm excited to get there and be done with all the transitioning time. I also can't wait to start taking and posting pictures of our travels!
Thanks to everyone that has been following the blog so far! Its been fun sharing little tidbits of our world with everyone.
Everyone have a good weekend!

Ahhhhh-stin
I love Austin!
I got the chance to roam around this weekend while I was home briefly (making one last trip before we jet off!) and was able to play with my camera some. I'm still learning, but I'm loving the learning process. Here are some pictures from my day. They're just little snippits of downtown as I roamed around.
If you haven't been to Austin, you have to go!
Lazy Saturday
We have plenty of stuff to do, from brushing up on our knowledge of the Middle East, to organizing for the next move pick up, to running errands... but all has been put on hold today :) I sat down at the computer with all intentions of doing something productive, but have found that parusing my favorite blogs and perfecting my own is much more fun.
We had our first move pick up yesterday. Everything went smoothly. My closet is very empty now, and I just keep thinking about the fact that I just sent half my wardrobe across the globe! We have our next two pick ups in 10 days and then will begin step one of our travels, which is heading to North Carolina. There's plenty to do between now and then though, which includes driving across the country to bring my car home to Austin, TX. Look for pictures from our road trip.
The picture above is my cat Olive when she was a kitten. She's 3 years old now and more quirky than ever. She's my constant shadow. I wish I could just put her in my pocket and take her with me overseas!
Anyways.... I hope everyone is having a good weekend! We're off to see a movie!

Hi Everyone! I hope you're having a wonderful holiday season! We are in Ohio for part of this month visiting friends and family. I love this time of year. We're only a month away from our move! We'll head back home after the new year and begin packing. Until then, enjoy some images I took this fall of the Ohio countryside.
